The Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations, Brussels Academy for China and European Studies, Confucius Institute at Vrije Universiteit Brussel are co-organizing an international conference on The Role of the BRICS in the World, supported by the five embassies of the BRICS countries to the Kingdom of Belgium, on 8 September 2017 (just three days after the BRICS summit in Xiamen, China from 3-5 September) in the Egmont Palace.

Speakers will include H. E. Mr. Antonio José VALLIM GUERREIRO, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Kingdom of Belgium; H. E. Mr. Alexander TOKOVININ, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Belgium; H. E. Ms. Gaitri Issar KUMAR, Ambassador-designate of the Republic of India to the Kingdom of Belgium; H. E. Mr. QU Xing, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Belgium; H. E. Mr. Baso SANGQU, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to the Kingdom of Belgium. Other speakers will include Mrs. Annick Van CALSTER, Director-General for Bilateral Affairs, Belgium Foreign Ministry, Mr. James MORAN, EEAS, Ms. Shada ISLAM, Friends of Europe, David FOUQUET, CERIS, as well as two scholars or representatives from each BRICS country.
