- On 14 March 2011 Sven Biscop gave a talk at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) in Ottawa at a policy seminar entitled: "Lisbon - Ottawa - Lisbon: NATO, CSDP and Canadian Security Policy". This event was organized under the auspices of the Canada-Europe cluster, of which Egmont is a member.

- 25 Feb. 2011: Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, opened the first model European Council organized by the Ghent branch of the Young European Federalists. After his opening speech, Prof. Hendrik Vos (Ghent University) and Prof. Sven Biscop gave the introductory lectures.

- Sven Biscop addressed the internal-external security nexus at the 5th annual Security Research Conference in Ostend on 23 Sept. 2010, arguing that the main focus of CSDP will remain crisis management operations outside the EU. -- See the video of his lecture: "After Lisbon: The continuum of internal and external security".
- On 16 Sept. 2010 Sven Biscop delivered the opening keynote speech at a conference in Madrid about the state of the art of the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) since the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, organized by the Spanish Ministry of Defence and the Real Instituto Elcano.
- On 26 July 2010 Sven Biscop addressed the security dimension at a workshop on "The EU and Asia: Inter-regionalism and Asia-Europe Cooperation", hosted by Fudan University in Shanghai. On that occasion, he was officially awarded the title of Senior Research Associate of the Centre for European Studies at the Renmin University of China (CESRUC) in Beijing, which co-organized the workshop and where he has been a frequent guest lecturer.
- At an expert seminar on Permanent Structured Cooperation in Defence organized by the Belgian Presidency of the EU in the Royal Military Academy on 13 July 2010, Sven Biscop spoke in the last panel, which was chaired by Jo Coelmont, about the strengths and opportunities of the concept and its added value at the EU and the national level. In the run-up to the seminar, the EU Institute for Security studies published the views of Prof. Biscop and Brig-Gen. Coelmont as EUISS Opinion - Press release.
- On 29 June 2010 at UNRIC in Brussels, Brig-Gen (R) Jo Coelmont gave the lecture "Het belang van de niet-militaire aspecten van vredesoperaties" - Report.
- On 18 June 2010 at the graduation ceremony of the College of Europe in Bruges, Brig-Gen (R) Jo Coelmont on behalf of the Institute handed the first ever Egmont Award for the Best Thesis on the External Relations of the EU to Mr. Tobias Felix Franke, for his MA dissertation "Nosce Te Ipsum – Positioning the EU’s CSDP as a Regional Ordnungsmacht".
- On 12 May 2010 Thomas Renard gave a speech on the EU-South Africa strategic partnership at the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Brussels.
- In the first two weeks of May, Sven Biscop lectured on EU foreign and security policy as a visiting professor at Renmin University in Beijing. On 7 May he also spoke in the opening plenary of a conference about the Lisbon Treaty at Sichuan University in Chengdu.
- On 8-9 May 2010 Sven Biscop talked about the EU after the implementation of the Lisbon Treaty at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China.
- On 4-5 May 2010 Thomas Renard gave a presentation on the EU-China relationship in a changing global environment at Renmin University in Beijing, China.
- At the request of Belgian Foreign Affairs, on 8 March Egmont organized a roundtable with two members of the Group of Experts preparing a new strategic concept for NATO, Ambassador Fernando Perpiñá-Robert Peyra and Professor Adam Daniel Rotfeld, who met with expert academics and journalists from Belgium as part of their round of consultations with civil society in all Allied countries.

- On 18 Jan. 2010 Sven Biscop gave a lecture about "Macht en waarden in het Middellandse Zeegebied: Tijd voor een EU-Strategie" at a conference organised by the European Movement of Belgium and MEDEA.
- On 12 Jan. 2010 Thomas Renard gave a speech on "What strategy for the EU in a multipolar world" at the first State of the Union Think Tank Forum, an annual meeting organised by Brussels-based think tanks.
- On 7 Dec. 2009, at the invitation of the Europe Society, Sven Biscop presented Egmont’s project for an EU Grand Strategy at the London School of Economics.
- On 4 Dec. 2009 Sven Biscop spoke about EU Grand Strategy at the annual "Europaforum" (http://www.aies.at/aktuell/2009/europaforum.php) of the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy, at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna. - On 2 Dec. 2009 Thomas Renard gave a speech on the geopolitical implications of the global crisis at the Heinrich Böll Stiftung in Brussels.
- On 27 Nov. 2009 Sven Biscop gave a guest lecture on European and Atlantic defence strategy in the “Military Strategy Course” at the Netherlands Defence College in The Hague.
- On 27 Nov. 2009 Thomas Renard gave a speech on the "EU-India strategic partnership in a multipolar world" during an event in Paris co-organised by the Fondation Jean Jaure´`es and the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS).
- On 6 Oct. 2009 Sven Biscop spoke at the opening conference (programme of the new Institut de Recherche Stratégique de l’Ecole Militaire (IRSEM) in Paris. Inaugurating the new institute, Mr. Hervé Morin, French Minister of Defence, referred to Egmont as one of the first rate international think tanks with which IRSEM should develop a close partnership (speech van Morin).
- On 16 Sept. 2009 the WEU Assembly held a hearing with Sven Biscop, who presented his joint study with Simon Serfaty about "Euro-Atlantic security strategy".
- Traditionally, Egmont supports the first module of the annual High-Level Course of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), which took off in Brussels on 14 Sept. 2009. Sven Biscop lectured about recent developments in ESDP for an audience of over 60 officials from all EU Member States and from the European institutions. - On 11 Sept. 2009 Sven Biscop spoke at the 2nd Annual CFSP Review Conference, organized by the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik in Berlin, where he addressed the lessons learnt from ESDP operations.
- Egmont is a partner in SANDERA (Security and Defence in the European Research Area), a project funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme. Sven Biscop attended the first project meeting on 7-8 Sept. in Manchester.

- On 25 June 2009 Sven Biscop addressed the European Security Strategy (ESS) at a conference about the EU as a global actor organized by the Higher School for Economics of the State University in Moscow. On that occasion, his recent work about the ESS was published in Russian in the International Organizations Research Journal.

- On 13 May 2009 Sven Biscop addressed a conference in Rome, organized by the offices of the European Commission and European Parliament and the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), about the priorities for EU foreign and security policy in the legislative period 2009-2014.
