Consultation of the civil society within the framework of the future Belgian Presidency of the European Union in 2010

Concept

As of the first of July 2010, Belgium will assume during six months the Presidency of the European Union. The development of the program of the Presidency requires a precise and long-term preparation. For the organization of this, the federal government has set up a 'Task force 2010' in order to consult the citizens and the civil society. The FPS Foreign affairs, Foreign trade and Development Cooperation organizes in collaboration with the Egmont Institute seven seminars between March and July 2009. The aim of these seminars is to consult trade unions and employer organisations, NGOs as well as consultation bodies on the European topics of first importance for this presidency by 2010.
