Research Programme Security Sector Reform (SSR) in sub-Sahara Africa
Concept
Analysis of the political and conceptual development of SSR in sub-Sahara Africa with a focus on the current evolutions in Burundi and in Central Africa.
This notably includes: research on the coherence and the coordination of SSR interventions of the international community; research on the development of the operational capabilities (including the respect for human rights) of the security services; analysis of the conceptual evolution of the SSR concept within the international community. The involvement of international actors such as Belgium, the EU and the UN will be examined.
