Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships in Post-Conflict Reconstruction (MULTIPART): The role of the EU (FP7) (2008 – 2009)

Concept

The MultiPart Project, financed by the EC 7th Framework Programme (FP7), has been launched in April 2008 in Pisa.

The Project investigates whether, how, and under what conditions multistakeholder partnerships can positively impact on human security and thus, facilitate non-violence and long-term peace, provididing a productive framework for relations between local actors and external actors, including third party mediators and international organisations.

MultiPart explores therefore opportunities to directly impact on partnerships that are evolving in post-conflict societies and, by translating its findings into policy recommendations, to contribute to enhancing the role of the EU in conflict prevention and resolution as well as in fostering the rule of law.

EGMONT is responsible for the DRC case-study and will collaborate with local partners such as the Pole Institute based in Goma (DRC). EGMONT is also participating in other projects in the framework of the research agenda.

Partners of this network include: Sciences Po Paris (France), University of Bradford (UK), University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands), IFSH – Hamburg University (Germany), London School of Economics (UK), ETC – Graz (Austria), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), ISIS Europe (Belgium), ISIS Sofia (Bulgaria), University of Firenze (Italia) and Scuola Sant’Anna Pisa (Italia).
