Security Challenges in the Western Balkans – Integration as a way forward

Conference - CANCELLED

Egmont Palace, Place du Petit Sablon, 8 Bis, Kleine Zavel, 1000 Brussels, Blue Room

Organisation: Egmont Institute

Besides brief overview of the current political momentum in the Western Balkans region, the lecture will be focused on the significance and impact of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration on democratic development and security of the WB, as an integral element of the wider EU and European security. Special focus will be given to the role and influence of the third, out of region and out of EU countries, trying to fill up the WB political and institutional void. It is essential to underline that integration is not purely technical and rules/procedures driven process but it had, has and always will have crucial political and geopolitical dimension.
