What role for the Western Balkans in countering terrorism in Europe? A discussion on the Albanian experience

Date

25 April 2018

Location

Egmont Palace, Place du Petit Sablon 8bis, 1000 Brussels

Security and countering terrorism have been particularly high on the foreign policy agenda across Europe over the past years. Strengthened cooperation with international partners has been key to preventing and combatting violent extremism and the EU has also stepped up its operational partnership with the countries of the Western Balkan region.

Albania is a strong partner for ensuring security and stability in Europe. The country has a respected track record in countering terrorism and its national strategy on countering violent extremism is an effective example for bringing counterterrorism into practice.

You are kindly invited to join the event, to exchange views on combatting violent extremism in Europe and to discuss the role of the Western Balkans in supporting counter-terrorism efforts, with a particular focus on the Republic of Albania and its national model.
