Dr. Basile Ridard is Senior Research Fellow at the Egmont Institute and Assistant Professor at the University of Picardy Jules Verne. He is also a visiting lecturer in Science Po Rennes and a regular contributor to the Review Constitutions. He teaches Constitutional law, European health law and French decentralization. His research focuses on the Constitutional and Institutional Law of the European Union, the European decision-making process, the French and Comparative Constitutional Law.
Previously, he was Lecturer in Sorbonne Law School, Vice-president of the Young Research Committee of the French Association of Constitutional Law and Fellow of the Franco-German Doctoral School College in Comparative Public Law. He has held visiting research positions at the Institute of European and Comparative Law of the University of Oxford, at the Institute of Public Law of the University of Freiburg and at the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies in Madrid.
Mr. Ridard obtained his PhD and his Master’s degree in Comparative Public Law at Paris Pantheon Sorbonne University, after receiving a Master’s degree in European and German Public Law from the Gutenberg University Mainz. His doctoral thesis was awarded the French National Assembly Thesis Prize and the Franco-German University Thesis Prize. He speaks French, English, German, Spanish and some Lithuanian.
