This book wants to tackle dominant perspectives on insurgency groups in Africa. It argues that for a more nuanced understanding of these groups, it is necessary to look into their roles in local societies. Furthermore it addresses the issue of international funding and regional connections of these groups. In addition possible conflicts of interest in combatting terrorism in Africa for the international community are put into perspective.
