EU support to civilian crisis management missions
The Egmont Institute and the Clingendael Academy will hold the pre-deployment training Sahel for Mali and Niger in the framework of ENTRi, a project sponsored by the EU.
The training from 14 Dec. until 17 Dec. will focuse on the conflict and recent socio-political developments in Mali, Niger and the Sahel, the operations and instruments of the UN, the EU, bilateral partners, and NGOs, as well as intercultural and communication skills.
Soutien de l’ue pour missions civiles de gestion des crises
L’Institut Egmont organise en partenariat avec l’Académie de Clingendael un séminaire de formation pré-déploiement pour le Mali et Niger, dans le contexte du projet ENTRi soutenu par l’Union européenne.
Cette formation de 4 jours est centrée sur le conflit et les développements socio-politiques au Mali, Niger et dans le Sahel, les opérations et actions des Nations Unies, de l’UE, des partenaires bilatéraux et des ONG et inclut le développement de compétences professionnelles (communication et sensibilité interculturelle).
Whom does this training address?
Incoming staff of international missions active in Mali and Niger, such as UN Offices, EU training missions, EUCAP capacity-building, EUSR Office, and/or Embassies. The course will be partly held in English and partly in French.
À qui d’adresse cette formation?
Le personnel des missions internationales au Mali et Niger (Bureaux de l’ONU, missions de l’UE dans la formation et le renforcement de capacité), des bureaux du représentant spécial de l’UE et/ou des Ambassades. La formation est offerte en anglais et en français.
Course objectives
After this pre-deployment training, participants will be able to:
- Interpret current developments in the context of the socio-political and historical background of the Sahel region;
- Identify the different mandates and resources of donors and organisations active in Mali and Niger;
- Employ skills of mentoring, advising, training and negotiating

Objectifs de la formation
Après la formation pré-déploiement, vous saurez:
· Analyser les développements actuels dans le contexte socio-politique ou historique de la région de Sahel;
· Identifier les mandats et les ressources des différentes organisations et bailleurs de fonds actifs au Mali et Niger;
· Utiliser vos compétences dans le domaine du mentoring, du conseil, de la formation et des négociations.

Logistics
This course is free of charge. Full board and lodging as well as international travel costs will be covered for all course participants. The training will take place in Brussels.
Please note that while ENTRi courses are primarily geared toward civilian personnel working in international crisis management missions, police and military candidates are welcome to apply. Please note that course participants from the military are required to cover their own expenses during the course, including accomodation, board, and travel costs.
Logistique
Ce cours est gratuit. Les repas et le logement ainsi que les frais de voyage seront pris en charge pour tous les participants à la formation. La formation se déroulera à Bruxelles.
Veuillez noter que les participants provenant de la Défense devront couvrir leurs propres dépenses durant les cours, celles-ci incluant le logement, les repas et les transports.
