From October 13-16, the Egmont Institute was part of the Belgian delegation in the Arctic Circle Assembly that took place in Reykjavik for the 13th time. Belgium took the opportunity to highlight its commitment to the region with the panel “In the Wake of the Belgica – Belgium’s Arctic Journey,” which was well received by the various Arctic stakeholders present and raised expectations about Belgium’s ambitions for a Belgian Arctic strategy. The session was moderated by the Egmont Institute’s Senior Associate Fellow Marie-Anne Coninsx and the panellists were Pol De Witte (Director General of the Egmont Institute),  Ambassador Frank Arnauts, Professor Huybrechts (VUB), Nicolas Van Hoecke (International Polar Foundation), Romain Chuffart (The Arctic Institute) and Clara Ganslandt (EU Special Envoy for the Arctic).
