The Egmont Institute was honoured to welcome Ms. Claude Véron-Reville, Head of Division for Western Europe and Special Envoy for Arctic Matters at the European External Action Service (EEAS) for a lunch presentation on Europe and the Arctic.

Since the publication of the 2021 EU Joint Communication on “a stronger EU engagement for a peaceful, sustainable and prosperous Arctic”, the geopolitical landscape has evolved significantly. Ms. Véron-Reville offered insights into the EU’s Arctic policy and discussed its relevance amid evolving geopolitical dynamics since the publication of the Joint Communication in October 2021.

This lunch presentation also served as a roundtable discussion, bringing together experts from European institutions, civil society, and the scientific community to delve into the changing dynamics of the Arctic in a rapidly evolving global context.
