Karen van Loon
Karen van Loon joined the Egmont Institute in July 2022 as a Researcher in the European Affairs Programme. Her research interests include the Arctic, Eastern Europe, arms control and nuclear non-proliferation.
She is an Educational Assistant in the Political Science department at KU Leuven Kulak. She is an experienced educator and capacity-building specialist.
Karen has an MA in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Antwerp and an MA and BA in Eastern-European Languages and Cultures from the University of Ghent. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Young Women in Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Mentorship Programme of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium.
