Realpolitik is the only possibility, but for me, it doesn’t mean that the end justifies the means; rather, it means that every end requires means. If you do not have the resources to pursue them, it’s pointless. There is a place for values in foreign policy, but it’s more limited than we’re told, because your leverage to export or impose them is limited.

Le Jnim a pu trouver de nouveaux endroits pour projeter son pouvoir dans l’ouest du Mali, près de la frontière avec le Sénégal et la Mauritanie. Nous avons également vu qu’il y a eu des attaques terroristes par le Jnim, mais aussi Daesh au Sahel, dans les zones urbaines.

Want de Amerikanen zeggen heel duidelijk dat we onder de Amerikaanse nucleaire paraplu zelf moeten zorgen voor het hele conventionele luik van afschrikking en defensie. Dat op zich is al een gigantische verandering, zelfs een breuk. De NAVO zoals we die kenden, bestaat volgens mij sowieso niet meer.
