Ward Den Dooven
Biography
Ward Den Dooven is an Associate Fellow in the European Affairs Programme at the Egmont Institute. Additionally, he holds the position of Attaché at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, working within the Taskforce for the 2024 Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Prior to this role, Ward served as a Project Assistant at the College of Europe for the Pilot Programme for the European Diplomatic Academy. His diverse work experience further includes a term at Democratic Society, a Brussels-based pan-European NGO focused on democratic challenges at various government levels. During his time there, he specialized in networked democracy and the Conference on the Future of Europe.
His primary research interests lie in EU democracy, exploring the interplay between EU institutions, democratic innovation (particularly through citizen engagement and participatory democracy), and associated challenges.
He earned his MA in European Political and Governance Studies from the College of Europe, after an MA in Economics, Law, and Business Studies from KU Leuven.
