6–10 Jan 2026: Promoting Gender Balance in the Congolese Senior Civil Service (Training)

From 6 to 10 January 2026, a joint team from the Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations and the Federal Public Service Policy and Support (SPF BOSA), with the support of Enabel, delivered a targeted coaching programme in Kinshasa for 38 female candidates who successfully passed the written examination of the 10th cohort of ENA RDC (École Nationale d’Administration de la République Démocratique du Congo). Enriched by the testimony and professional experience of two Congolese ENA alumnae, the training provided practical insight into career pathways within the senior civil service and highlighted concrete progression opportunities.

Under the theme “Communicating with Impact: Strategies and Presentations”, the programme aimed to address the persistent gender imbalance within ENA RDC—where women represent around 10% of admitted cohorts, despite accounting for 20–24% of applicants at earlier selection stages. Operating independently from the official recruitment process, the coaching focused on strengthening public speaking, structured thinking, strategic presentation skills, and professional self-confidence. By reinforcing these transferable leadership competencies, the initiative contributes to fostering greater gender balance within the Congolese senior civil service.
