This briefing tried to capture Algeria’s core role in the various regional and transnational dynamics of North and West Africa. It also explored the possible influence of Algeria on the stabilization of the region. The issues this briefing focused on were: the recent internal political development in Algeria vis-à-vis the Arab spring, the role of Algeria in current vacuum in northern Mali and the Tuareg and AQIM problems.
