Following decades of unchallenged Western dominance, the global governance system is currently being reshaped. Key emerging powers led by China have set out to increase their influence in global – economic – governance. This Policy Brief assesses the challenge that the BRICS-led New Development Bank (NDB) poses to the European Union (EU) in the field of development policy and identifies ways in which the EU could respond to this challenge.
