Biography

Helena Vandenbroeke joined the Communications and Events team at Egmont Institute in February 2026. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Cross-cultural Communication and Management at the KU Leuven. Her Master’s thesis examines Belgian newspapers’ depiction of Congolese dictator Mobutu in the 1960s.

Prior to this, Helena obtained a Master’s degree in International Politics (Geopolitics) at Newcastle University, completing her Master’s thesis which delved into the evolution of N-VA political communication on migrants and Wallonians. She also earned her Bachelor’s degree with a major in Political science and minor in Criminology at the UCLouvain.

Her academic interests include political communication, nationalism, democratic erosion, African politics, and international relations.
