Biography

Peter Bosch joined the Egmont Institute in March 2022 as a Senior Associate Fellow in the European Affairs programme. His areas of interest include Migration, Labour Markets and Demography.

He has been an official of the European Commission for over 25 years. He started his career in the Secretariat-General. As a staff member in DG’s working on Justice and Home Affairs, he has dealt with different policy fields and gained wide experience in international negotiations. Under the Barroso-II Commission, he was member of the Cabinet of Commissioner Malmström, providing political and policy advice on issues like the future of Home Affairs, Migration, Asylum and international protection, Schengen, visa policy and relations with third countries, in particular Africa and the neighbouring countries.

Before joining the Institute, he was the Advisor to the Deputy Director-General of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. In this capacity he focussed on the future of cities, sustainable development goals, citizens engagement and foresight.

Peter Bosch is a former Visiting Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre of the European Institute, Italy.
He holds a Masters Degree in Law of the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
