Biography

Romaric Djontu joined the Egmont Institute in September 2025 as a Trainee Project Assistant within the Education & Training Programme. He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations, with a specialization in Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution from the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain). His thesis focused on the expansion of the Tuareg rebellion in Mali in 2012 and the influence of international dynamics on the weakening of the Malian state.

His areas of interest include bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, international governance, crisis management, and migration issues.

Before joining the Egmont Institute, Romaric gained experience through various internships, notably at the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), the Embassy of Cameroon in Belgium, and the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), where he worked on issues related to governance, migration, and ACP–EU relations.
