Réka Varga
Biography
While pursuing a Doctorate and working as a teaching assistant in Criminology at Université Catholique de Louvain, Réka Varga is a Junior Research Fellow alongside Dr. Thomas Renard at the Egmont Institute since January 2022. In her doctoral study supervised by Prof. Fabienne Brion, she focuses on the various transformations of intelligence mechanisms stemming from evolving counterterrorism policies in Belgium, as well as their impact on the observance of the rights of labelled individuals and communities.
Réka is currently part of the AFFECT (Impact Assessment of Belgian De-Radicalisation Policies Upon Social Cohesion and Liberties) Research team commissioned by BELSPO in Belgium, as well of the Belgian partner team to EU-funded research project DRIVE (Disengaging and Rehabilitating Islamist Violent Extremism) at Egmont.
