Lise Wiederholt Christensen

Biography

Lise Wiederholt Christensen joined the Egmont Institute in January 2024 as a Visiting Fellow in the European Affairs Programme. She is a PhD candidate in International Relations at the University of Copenhagen specializing in NATO, especially NATO’s renewed role in the Arctic region. Her research interests include the diplomatic workings of NATO undergoing change, with a specific focus on how diplomats manage strategic shifts in their day-to-day work. She is also interested in the particular construction of the Kingdom of Denmark, which consists of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. She focuses on the dilemmas related to being a Kingdom of three parties, but speaking with one voice as an ally in NATO.

Lise has previously worked as a diplomat at the Danish Delegation to NATO and as a civil servant at the Danish Ministry of Defence before she returned to academia as a PhD candidate. Lise holds a Master’s degree from University of Copenhagen in Political Science.
